Paula: Hi Jason, my husband worked in construction. I had been so worried about him in this heat and the other day he passed out while he was on the job. They took him to the hospital, but he didn’t make it. They said his body temperature was at 108 degrees when he was in the ambulance.

Jason: Paula, I’m very sorry to hear about your husband’s death. I would need to know more details, but you may have a case of gross negligence against the company he worked for.

Paula: Thank you, Jason. I am still learning what happened, but his brother worked there too, and he said they push them so hard. Not enough breaks or water. He said that my husband complained of feeling faint, but they just told him to get back to work.

Jason: From what you are telling me, it doesn’t sound like the company had reasonable protections in place for its workers in this extreme heat.

Paula: No they didn’t. He complained before and I was so worried about him. He was a good man who worked hard to support his family. The doctors tried to save him, but it was just too late. I don’t know what I am going to do now.

Jason: Let’s set up a time to talk more about your case, Paula. I will fight to get you the money you need for your family.

Paula: Thank you, Jason, but how would I pay you for taking our case?

Jason:  Paula, you wouldn’t have to pay me anything out of pocket. My clients owe me nothing unless we get a settlement or jury award.

Paula: Thank you, Jason!
