It was a little after 5 pm on Friday, November 8, 2019, when the lives of an Alice family were changed forever. The family was traveling in their Honda passenger car south down SH 359 in Jim Wells County – a mother and her three children.
Heading north on SH 359 was a man in an F-250 pickup truck. As he came upon the intersection at FM 3376, he attempted to make a left turn. When he did, his truck smashed into the family in the Honda, which was going the opposite direction.
The impact of the crash was severe enough that everyone involved was taken to the hospital.
Both drivers and two of the three children survived the accident, but a 7-year-old girl did not. The little girl passed away while at Driscoll Children’s Hospital a week after the accident took place.
A family was left to bury their baby girl.
And one question remains, why did this man turn suddenly in front of this family on SH 359? Did he not see them? Was he distracted? Under the influence?
At the time of this article, there are no answers to these questions. But whatever the reason – and even if investigators find that there was no criminal activity going on – this family can still pursue justice in a civil court of law.
With modern technology and an expert in accident reconstruction, the details of the events leading up to this accident can be recovered. Things like whether or not this man was talking on his phone or texting, the moment he turned the steering wheel, or even how quickly he stepped on his brakes are all recorded inside his pickup truck.
And this information can be used to help a family such as this one recover by pursuing compensation in a civil court of law.
Unfortunately, many people do not realize that these resources are available. Or they believe that they cannot afford to hire an attorney to help them.
But this is not true.
There are attorneys available who will take your case for free. Only if they win your case do you owe them money.
